Group 2

Our group is composed by Filipe Bela, Sofia Pereira, António Mourão and Francisca Mota. We chose the topic Dental Hygiene and the first two days were a success. The various experiments done in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies were a definite success and our group managed to broaden our personal scientific knowledge.
Our Physics experiments are:
- putting current across toothpaste and observing which brand of toothpaste has the highest resistivity
- observing how the distance of light from the solar panel affects the energy output of an electric toothbrush
Our Biology experiments include:
- the effect of toothpaste on bacteria
Our Chemistry experiments include:
- pH change of toothpaste solution in the presence of acid
Our Environmental Systems experiments include:
- growing cress seeds in cotton using mouth washer and observing how it acts as a pollutant (this experiment also counts for Biology)
